Donation Guidelines
We accept donations Tuesday-Sunday, beginning at 10am (11am on Sundays). We do not accept donations on Monday. Please view our donation guidelines below.All proceeds from the sale of your donations help William Temple House support people in our community through mental health counseling and emergency assistance programs. Please toggle the categories below for guidelines around generally accepted items.
All donations are subject to staff approval and donation guidelines may change.
Apparel
Generally Accepted
- Adult-sized men’s and women’s clothing that is clean and in good condition
- Accessories
- Jewelry
- Shoes
Not Accepted
- Any items with holes, tears, or stains
- Children’s items
Electronics
Generally Accepted
- Most small-sized appliances and devices in working condition
Not Accepted
- Console televisions and stereos
- Hard-wired lighting or electrical fixtures
- Large appliances (e.g., washers or refrigerators)
- Televisions older than five years
Furniture

- Futons with frames
- Shelves
- Sofas, including sofa beds
- Tables

- Any items in need of repair or reupholstering
- Bed frames or headboards
- Children’s furniture

- Executive desks over 4 feet long
- Glass top dining tables
- Home improvement items (medicine cabinets, faucets, toilets, sinks)
- Mattresses or air mattresses

- Medical equipment / supplies (walkers, toilet seats, shower parts, rehab boots)
- Outdoor items (BBQs, lawnmowers, yard tools)

Donation Pick-up Service
We offer a donation pick-up service to households in the Portland metro area. To schedule a donation pick-up, please call 503-715-0336.
A $45 pick-up fee helps offset our fuel and truck maintenance costs so that more of your donation will support the low-cost counseling and food assistance services William Temple House offers. A discounted $25 pick-up fee is available for no-contact pick-ups from your curb, driveway, or garage that do not involve our staff entering your home. Thank you for supporting our community!

Your donation of goods in used or better condition is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Tax receipts are available at the time of donation.
