In response to reductions in income and its financial reserves William Temple House has made
staffing reductions effective April 15, 2009. These cuts, while painful, ensure that the 44-year-old
mental health counseling and social services agency will fulfill its mission and meet the
needs of the working poor in Portland long into the future.
The staffing reductions affect the agency’s operations as follows:
- Paid staff will no longer provide social services and emergency food at William Temple
House North at 7704 N Hereford Street in north Portland. The facility is on the campus
of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church which is considering continuing the food pantry as a
volunteer-run operation. Questions regarding the future of emergency food services at
St. Andrews Episcopal Church should be directed to Father Albert Krueger,
503.285.0631.
- The food pantry at William Temple House in northwest Portland is now open Tuesday
and Wednesday from 10 am to 3 pm. Social Services information and referrals is
available Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm.
- Mental health counseling services continue to be offered by appointment at William
Temple House in northwest Portland. Applications are taken Tuesday through Thursday
from 10 am to 7 pm.
- The William Temple House Thrift Store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am
to 7 pm and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. The store is closed Monday. Donations may
be dropped off at the store Tuesday through Sunday during the hours that the store is
open.
